It feels so good to be back! After a short season of pressing pause, we’re excited to relaunch the Your Marriage Matters podcast and step into a brand-new series we’re calling Back to School.

Why Back to School? Well, the truth is, our #1 marriage flex isn’t perfection or performance. It’s this: we never stop learning. That mindset has shaped our 38 years of marriage, carried us through ups and downs, and kept us moving forward together.

In this first episode of the new season, we dig into 10 powerful reasons why continual growth is so important in marriage:

  • Growth makes us healthier as individuals, so we have more to give each other.

  • Personal growth always sparks relational growth.

  • It keeps our relationship dynamic and exciting.

  • It builds resilience for when life gets tough.

  • It keeps us humble and curious, always willing to learn.

  • It models something powerful for our kids and grandkids.

  • It helps us avoid drifting apart.

  • It makes conflict more productive.

  • It fuels fresh vision for our life together.

  • And most of all, it honors the vows we made when we said “I do.”

We also share about our recent reset—why we stepped back for a time of personal, relational, and spiritual growth, and how God used that season to remind us that He designed marriage as a classroom where we learn to love like He loves.

💡 This Week’s Challenge: Download our Marriage Growth Checklist & Team Us Growth Plan. Use it with your spouse and start your own Back to School journey together.

We hope this episode encourages you to never stop learning—about yourself, your spouse, and God’s design for marriage. Because when you lean into growth, you’re not just building a stronger marriage … you’re building the kind of life you dreamed of when you said “I do.”
